H.O.M.E. welcomes licensed mental health professionals with a passion for service, commitment to excellence, and knowledge of the immigration assessment process. We began in southern border states but now recognize that the border is everywhere, and today, our evaluators are licensed under boards of psychology, social work, counseling, and medicine across 48 states.

H.O.M.E. clinicians’ expertise includes trauma, diagnostic processes, intercultural understanding, and knowledge of the expert’s role in immigration petitions. Some specialize in early childhood, adolescence, neuropsychological testing or the unique needs of immigrants targeted for their sexual orientation or gender identity. Many H.O.M.E. evaluators have personal experience with the immigration process and are native speakers of more than one language. We assign cases that align with the clinician’s expertise, licensure, interest, and availability.

H.O.M.E. clinicians work on a contract basis and are offered a modest stipend for each assessment. We work collaboratively and offer ready consultation, interpretation, logistical support, report editing, and optional team meetings for training and connection. Licensed clinicians without immigration assessment experience are also welcome, and H.O.M.E.’s safe, collaborative process offers a support system in which to develop your expertise while ensuring your clients receive the best possible evaluations. We require new evaluators to complete introductory training, and an excellent place to start is the Asylum Medicine Training Initiative, where asylum medicine experts offer free, on-demand training based on peer reviewed practices and the Istanbul Protocol 2022.
